法國作家讓季奧諾寫過一篇著名的小說。講的是一個離羣索居的牧羊人。通過近半個世紀堅持不懈地植樹。證實了孤獨者能夠找到幸福 。 這位牧羊人。不知道1914年的戰爭。也不知道1939年的戰爭。他天天和樹打交道。和樹相依爲命。他用心靈的語言和樹談心。默默地交流。過的是淡泊生活 。他通過親身經歷證實了孤獨者找到了過得美滿幸福的好辦法——愛讓生活多份陽光 。
這位牧羊人幾十年置身於荒無人煙的地域。他每種下一棵樹。就感到在人世間就又多了一個親人。他的事業是堪與上帝比美的事業 。由於充滿了改造現實世界的強烈願望和對樹的極度熱愛。這位牧羊人在實踐中逐漸發現人與土地。人與自然相互依存的關係。他深深意識到人生的價值在於爲他人。爲後人造福。 幸福不是一種狀態。而是一種心態。人生充滿忙碌。但人們依然可以選擇詩意地棲居在大地上生活繁瑣而艱辛。但寧靜的心靈和滿腔熱忱會彈奏出精彩的樂章！

在這部作品裏，我看到了一個人的力量有多偉大，也看到了一個人的力量有多渺小。
僅僅憑這一個人的努力，就可以把一片不毛之地變成森林，可是也只能把這一片地方變成森林。如果來一羣人砍伐，這片森林照樣會在很短的時間內消失。但如果每個人都去種樹，那這世界將會變成什麼樣子呢？再想想看，其實只要一萬個人中能有一個這樣的人，就已經足夠好了。
森林逐年減少，珍稀物種瀕臨滅絕，草原沙漠化，全球變暖等等，這些問題是不是真的這麼難治理呢？我不是專業人士，但是再來看看這位仁兄的故事，似乎一個人就可以改變很多事情。人們除了每年植樹節去種樹作秀之外，也許可以下決心做一些更多的事情來改變現狀。
我很想把這部作品推薦給朋友們和每一個認識的人去看，這部短片告訴我們只要每個人減少一點污染環境的行爲，合起來就可以爲環保事業做出無法想象的貢獻！
再來看看現在某些人的惡劣行徑，現在大家都在呼籲要環保，有些人喊得更響亮，但實際行爲卻和嘴裏說的大相徑庭。要讓他去種幾棵樹，覺得太渺小;手裏要有個空塑料瓶之類的，就隨手一丟了事。還是那句老話勿以惡小而爲之，勿以善小而不爲。

這是一個很長的繪本，不需要太多的展開進行講解，光是讀，就幾乎需要一節課的時間。在繪本中這本書的文字量算是很大了。
其實故事很平淡，講述的就是一個男人在種樹的故事。1913年我在普羅旺斯的一片荒漠中遇到了一個男人，這個男人五十五歲了，他在一片荒漠中種樹，每天選出一百顆橡樹子，然後種下去，每天如此，種了一年，種下了三萬多棵橡樹，其中有十分之一成活。然後他又種縱樹，就這樣一年一年，經歷過第一次世界大戰，經歷過第二次世界大戰，老人還在種樹，老人種的樹距離他住的石頭房子越來越遠，幾十年過去了，我一次又一次去看這位老人，每次都發現這裏的樹變得越來越高，越來越多，環境在不斷髮生着變化，而老人也越來越老了，唯一不變的是老人一直在種樹。最後一次見到植樹的老人是一九四五年，和第一次相比，已經過去了三十多年，當年的荒原上，已經通了公共汽車，已經形成了一個城鎮，已經有了泉水。而老人種樹，已經要到距離這裏四十公里以外了。這裏被發現的這片森林，已經有了護林員來管理。人們在這片曾經的荒原上面幸福的生活。可是這一切和老人並沒有什麼關係，老人依舊在種樹。在遙遠的遠方在種樹。 這位種樹的老人做到了只有上帝才能夠做到的事情。上帝其實就在每個人的心裏。 在平淡中開始，在平淡中結束，可是卻在每一個聽故事的人心中留下了巨大的震撼！
一個人的力量原來竟然有這麼大，一個人竟然能夠做出這麼了不起的事情來！這就是一個種樹的男人的故事。
